I recently interviewed with the Oklahoma Blood Research Center for a Research Assistant role. The overall process was well-organized and professional. The initial phone screening with HR was straightforward, focusing on my background and availability. After that, I had an in-person panel interview with the research team.
The panel was friendly and made an effort to create a comfortable environment. They asked a mix of technical questions related to laboratory procedures, data analysis, and my previous research experience, as well as behavioral questions to assess teamwork and problem-solving skills. Some questions felt quite detailed, especially regarding specific blood analysis techniques, so having relevant experience definitely helped.
The interviewers were transparent about the role’s responsibilities and growth opportunities. They also gave a clear timeline on the next steps, which was appreciated. Overall, I felt the process was fair and thorough, giving me a good sense of the center’s commitment to research excellence.
The only downside was that the waiting period for feedback was a bit longer than expected, but they eventually communicated their decision professionally.
I would recommend preparing well on technical topics and having examples ready to demonstrate your collaboration skills if you’re interviewing here.
