The interview process was clear, and the recruiter was easy to work with. However, there's something that felt very opaque and shady about who they decide to move forward. I was told, on several occasions, that I was a "perfect fit" for the role and made it all the way to a final round. But, I heard back from the recruiter after about 5 days saying that I "didn't have the right background", which is completely false. I had a spot-on background and received good feedback through the process (as mentioned). When I asked for feedback, I was told it was "against company policy". This was shocking and surprising. Also, there was one interviewer I had who was totally rude from the get-go of our conversation. Clearly did not want to be there-- he seemed impatient and annoyed. My advice to OpenAI: reconsider what your interviewers are allowed to say to candidates and maybe tell your interviewers to have a better attitude.
