I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at OpenGov in Mar 2024
Interview
Their recruiter reached out to me informing me about the position. Typical recruiter message, "[this] connection is very intentional and very targeted. " when I responded to his inquiry, it took him over a week to respond. I received a link to schedule a chat with him, when clicking the link, you need to enter your email that the link was sent to. However, the site was not accepting my email in any form. We went back and forth a few times to troubleshoot it, providing screenshots of the difficulty. He eventually went silent and I had to follow up inquiring further. Once we finally got the meeting scheduled, he was running late. I had emailed him to confirm, as I was about 10 minutes into waiting on his call. He did call and requested to either proceed with the 15 minutes left or reschedule. I opted to reschedule. During the quick chat, he informed me the position was for Permitting and Licensing, which was different than the original Budgeting and Planning.
While waiting on him to call for the second chat, I was poking around the website, as he was 5 minutes late this time, and located a web design error. Once he called, he informed me that they have a company policy where you need to live 30 miles or 45 minutes from an office, putting me out of range, so they were not going to proceed.
Between the delayed responses, broken links to schedule, website errors, and unknowing of the company policy, when I live beyond the limits, why bother "intentionally targeting" me if I already was disqualified? Hopefully, the company is managed better than the recruiting process.
