Chaotic group test and unprofessional experience.
I was contacted via Indeed and invited in for what was described as a “quiz.”
Be prepared for a very impersonal and high-pressure process.
When I arrived upstairs, there was no reception or clear check-in process, so candidates were left waiting and unsure if they were in the right place, which added unnecessary stress before the assessment even began.
There were multiple candidates waiting and we were all taken into a room to complete a one-hour timed, handwritten test. The setup felt more like a competitive exam than an interview.
Communication on the day was poor. It was explicitly stated that only the highest scorers would move on, which made the whole experience feel like candidates were being ranked against each other rather than assessed fairly.
If you arrive even a few minutes late, you may be brought in after others have already started and have that time deducted from your test, which felt unnecessarily strict and unfair.
The environment and overall organisation gave off a negative impression, and the process didn’t reflect how real development work is done.
The process didn’t provide any clear indication of performance on the day, and the outcome was a generic rejection email with no meaningful feedback. The email did not include any indication of the score or result achieved, only a statement that the results were “not up to our standards,” which came across as impersonal and unhelpful.
Advice for candidates:
Go in expecting a competitive, test-heavy screening process rather than a typical interview. Be prepared for limited communication, strict timing, and minimal feedback.
