I applied for the Hotel Feasibility Analyst role via LinkedIn and was contacted by the Director for an initial introductory interview. This was followed by an Excel assessment where I was provided with an Offering Memorandum (OM) and an Excel template. I was required to complete the model based on my estimates and create a pitch deck. After submitting the assessment, I scheduled a call with the same Director to discuss the model and my assumptions. I received very positive feedback, and was told that I would have a final step with the head of the department.
However, after not hearing back for several weeks, I sent multiple follow-up emails. I was eventually informed that the hiring process was on hold because they had just hired a Chief of Development, but they were working on getting approvals to move forward. In the end, I was ghosted, and I later noticed on LinkedIn that they had hired another candidate. I found this behavior to be highly unprofessional.
