      Photographer Interview

      16 Dec 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Montreal, QC
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at PPE Photographe (Montreal, QC) in Dec 2025

      Interview

The owner required a zoom interview. It started well. He broke it down into 3 parts: 1) talk about me; 2) about the company; 3) and to finish with Q&A. Everything was ok until we went to Q&A. I was offered to work on an event on a certain date, with a relatively low pay (I can work with that), but he also required me to go pick him and his equipment up at his house, drive him to the venue and back, for about 120km total, for free. At this point, I explained that I would basically be losing money to work for him. I felt like he was taking my professionalism and kindness for weakness. The zoom interview could have ended in a reasonable delay, but took over 1 hour 15 mins, with over 45 mins of me entertaining him about his questions about my personal life, and questions to teach him how to manage his social media and how to shoot things better etc. Before hanging up, he was still insisting on meeting in person over a coffee, for a second interview. That's where I drew the line. I asked to get back to him, and politely declined the offer the next day.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

On top of doing my work, having my own equipment, having a professional dress code to represent the company (all black, shirt and pants etc), he required me to be his free uber driver for a round trip of over 120 km, on top of working for a relatively low hourly rate.
