I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in Jan 2023
Interview
Early January 2023 - Applied online. Quickly received response and completed phone interview with HR within a few days. After a week, I participated in a video interview with the hiring manager. Early February - The HR rep sent a random email to share that they were still interviewing and he would have an up date the following week. Mid-March - I realized I never received the update and noticed the position was still posted. I contacted the HR rep just to follow up. I was told the process was lagging due to additional candidates and internal referrals - and was again told they would have an update early the following week. The following week, I did not receive an update from the HR rep as promised, but I did see the position had been reposted on various nonprofit career boards. Another month passed without any update. It is disappointing to see an organization with a rather high level of donor revenue operate with such inefficiency and disregard for their stated mission. This organizations 990 shows the HR and Development Exec salaries were over $600k in 2020. That number is likely more now, which I suppose must not be enough to motivate them to actually do their job and fill open positions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is your experience managing staff in a remote setting? How do you prioritize tasks to ensure goals are met?
The interview was very thorough and collaborative, involving staff from several departments. The staff are very nice and you can tell they are also very dedicated about the mission of the organization. The organization seems to have very strong leadership that wants to truly help the pancreatic cancer community. Very impressive group.
Prior to the pandemic, it was 4 stages. A written portion, a group panel interview, an interview with an executive, and an interview with HR. Each happened in succession and went rather quickly. Interviewers were personable.
