I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pangea Biological (San Diego, CA) in Feb 2013
Interview
Thorough interview included a telephone interview, in-person interview with owners, and field interview. I was apprehensive of the field interview, but glad after because I was more comfortable showing my field knowledge than answering questions about my resume and experience. I had to write up the results about the field interview. The 1:1 field interview gave me an opportunity to expand on the details of my experience and explain my strengths and my goals.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Pangea Biological (Encinitas, CA) in Apr 2014
Interview
Overall it was a good interview. However, the interviewers left out management details that were key to my quiting after one year. I presume that is because they knew that I probably wouldn't have taken the job. They informed me that I would occasionally have to work weekends and long hours and I said this was fine because it is common in this industry. However, everywhere else I've worked, you were compensated for the extra hours. Here it was basically just a tax, which I considered unfair because the employer was still charging the client by the hour. They also failed to mention in the interview that they require their field people to keep in constant contact by texting their travel status. I believe they sensed that I wouldn't have liked this and therefore omitted it from the discussion. Oh, and I fained to mention that company meetings were at 4 PM so that when they ran over it was on the employees time.
