I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Panopta in Mar 2020
Interview
Applied online. Had an introduction call with a recruiter, and she was absolutely turned off by the fact that I wasn’t located in Chicago. She said they wanted a local candidate for immediate hire, and despite the fact that I was willing to relocate she claimed she had to check with the hiring manager. I never heard back from them. Please do NOT limit yourself to local candidates and as well informing candidates of their application.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Panopta (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2018
Interview
Applied online, phone screen with head of product followed by an in person with several members of the team and founders. Pretty standard questions for a generalist design role. "What tools do you use, what's your process, how do you work with dev, etc." Didn't look at any of my portfolio, just asked about past projects. Seemed fairly positive overall and an easygoing interview. Didn't hear anything back after a week so I followed up to only hear back a generic "we've filled the position." Requested additional feedback to help improve but no response.
To Panopta (and all interviewers): please be considerate of the folks you are interviewing. We're investing our time and effort in the process and if we don't receive any feedback it is impossible for us to improve. We are also much less likely to refer our friends/colleagues to you in the future.
