      No offer
      Declined offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Payhawk (Sofia, Sofia (city)) in Jan 2024

      Interview

The interview process was pleasant and efficient. The interviews was three: 30 minutes screening with recruiter, 2 phases(1,5h each) of technical interview conducted at once and a 30 minute cultural fit with their CTO. I was referred by a friend and they responded very quickly - in the matter of hours, after I sent my resume, I received an email from the recruiter to choose a slot for the initial screening. It was a typical interview, where you describe what is your current role and what are your expectations. I would call it actually a very friendly conversation, rather interview(although I was feeling quite nerves). The second interview, the technical one was on site. Two engineers - principal and senior, they were very friendly during the whole process. During the first phase of the interview I had to talk a bit about my background. Then the interviewers check how deeply I understands the topics I said I'm proficient in. Basically a depth of knowledge interview type. The second phase was more structure. They have prepared a semi-finished system design task, which we had to finish together. The idea of this task is to actually check how you think, rather than searching for "the right solution". I would say that it is not an easy job to invent a problem like that, so they have prepared very well on that. During the whole process I was treated with respect and the interviewers was really nice. The last interview was a cultural fit, with the CTO of the company. He explains the way they work, why they work this way and what are they expecting from their engineers. The idea of this interview is to see if you fit in the company. Both side, from their perspective and from your own. Again I would not classify it as an interview, but rather a nice chat about company and you. I had the ability to ask any kind of questions about the company, about the cultural, the people, the technologies, why are they chosen, basically whatever interests me. Generally I like the company, Everyone seems very positive, the engineers was well prepared, the product they are build sounds meaningful and one with a future, Got an offer which fulfilled my expectations, but I decided to proceed with another company, that sounds more attractive to me at the moment.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Payhawk (Sofia, Sofia (city))

      Interview

The process is conventional, but unfair - it has a hackerrank/leetcode type of coding interview, which is useful only during the interview and nowhere else. The system design one is you just designing on a whiteboard, which happens at their office. However, they are able to make an exception and do it online if you can't attend in person.

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      23 Feb 2024
      Anonymous employee
      Sofia, Sofia (city)
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Payhawk (Sofia, Sofia (city)) in Oct 2023

      Interview

Three step process. First is online screening with HR, 30-45 mins max. Second interview is on-site, whiteboard interview, which lasts 3 hours. It is a combination of going through your previous experience, coding and algorithmic questions and system design. There are always 2 interviewees. Each one of them gives you a separate score independent of the other. Both of them should give you a "thumbs up" in order for you to get an offer. Even if one of them has a slightly doubt about you, the policy of the company is to refuse the candidate. They prefer to turn down even a potential good candidate, then to hire a potential bad one (false positive). Third step is interview with the CTO of the company. It is more or less a formal one. Afterwards there's a background check and you need to provide at least 2 peers to give you referrals.

      Question 1

How you're going to prevent someone to make a double payment?
