I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource (North Attleboro, MA)
Interview
Filled out an application online and was then called to set up an interview about 3 days later. The manager doing the interview was really nice and asked me about 7 questions and rated my response to each one. Once we finished the questions she then asked me to role play selling her shoes. I recommend greeting them like a regular customer, they will then have you pick out 2 pairs of shoes. Once that's done make sure you offer a bag or something else to their purchase. Once you've offered them something else ask if they are ready to get checked out. After the role playing was done she told me she would call me with in a week to schedule a second interview. Many weeks passed and i still had received no call back, i then went to the same store to shop when the manager that had interviewed me recognized me. She said she had lost my application and wanted my number and name again, then told me she would call me in 3 days to schedule the second interview. 1 week past and i called her back to ask about my interview, she then told me to call back the next day to schedule the interview. I now have my second interview on Monday with the general manager at a different location to the one i applied too.

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource (New York, NY)
Interview
Applied online, called within 2-3 days to follow up. I did receive a call back to schedule an interview with the store manager, after that I had to schedule and interview with the District manager (Store manager called me back after the interview to schedule it) fairly long process for such a basic position. Store manager asked me retail related questions such as "tell me about a difficult customer" "sale me this shoe and a accessory". Interview with the District Manager was more of a conversation, we talked about store goal such as sales and what my job really is as a sales associate.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource (Ontario, CA)
Interview
Fairly typical interview process, they call and set up an available time with you. They do not do group interviews. They ask fairly typical questions pertaining to retail, no questions stand out.
I applied online. I interviewed at Payless ShoeSource in Nov 2016
Interview
The interview was very to the point, your typical interview for a retail position. Asking about experience, whether youre good at sales, good with people. The manager seemed really nice, was very outgoing and friendly.
