I approached the professor after attending one of the seminars. We talked for a while and she asked me to mail her. After mailing her I waited for almost 2 months to hear back from her. Had an interview with her on-campus and got hired.

The interview was not very intense. But it will depend on the advisor. PennState is not very strict at faculty doing a lot of research. They focus on teaching because the large amount of undergraduate.

Talk with the professors about your interest of research areas. Provide evidence of academic strengths in your field. Show your interest and confidence, also commitment to the job. need to write more but not sure what to write about.
