Fairly traditional - one of the best interview and interfacing experiences I’ve ever had; some constructive feedback I received I use to this day! Very grateful.
I arrived a few minutes ahead of the set time and was politely told my interviewer was wrapping something up and will be along shortly. Within a few minutes (technically past scheduled time) an energetic and charismatic fellow made his way to me (I had met before) and shook my hand with sincerity and kept eye contact throughout the greeting process. After a brief exchange of easygoing pleasantries, he led me into a small adjacent meeting room, cozy and quiet, which allowed me to remain comfortable. Then he got to a few technical questions which I understood fairly well and he genuinely enjoyed my responses; even a couple where I more or less plodded my way through. With maintained enthusiasm, he asked if he could show me around the impressive building, including the centralized, cutting-edge, floor cooled server room (that was a treat). Of course, I nodded ‘yes’ excitedly. As we left that room he even patted me on the back with an assuring smile, which gave me a continued feeling of warmth as we toured the large expanse of well laid out Technology area and various departments within. At that stage of the process, I really felt at ease and comfortable to be myself as we walked around, which was awesome. We circled back to the small meeting room where we started to conclude the interview.
There, he was very straight with me and let me know that he did already have a guy ahead of me in mind for the position, however he also wanted to bring me in on as well, for at least the time being for various projects and depending on how that fleshed out, would be working on HR and management to extend that opportunity into a more permanent role; and that is what he did. Thank you guys again for the wonderful experience and growth in my career!
