      Financial Advisor Interview

      12 Oct 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tampa, FL
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Personal Capital (Tampa, FL) in Sept 2021

      Interview

It was pretty typical. They did ask me one question which I thought was a tad inappropriate. Super serious tone. The two guys who interviewed me didn’t feel like they had much of a sales personality. Very manager type vibes. After a FaceTime interview, they scheduled a mock call which I think was the final interview. Had to cancel the mock call due to a conflict with my other position and then never heard from them again. Wasn’t too disappointed though, the compensation structure, from what I remember wasn’t very attractive.

      Interview

I interviewed with Personal Capital at the start of 2022. Numerous phone and on camera interviews, completed the requested background check and personality test. They kept pushing back the expected hiring dates and to this day never gave me a straight yes or no decision. Each time I followed up they kept kicking the can down the road so to speak so I gave up.

      Financial Advisor Interview

      5 Feb 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Deerfield Beach, FL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Personal Capital (Deerfield Beach, FL)

      Interview

Interviewed with someone, they didn’t read my resume, didn’t know what the CFA or CFP was or the process to obtain either, they did explain the role and the salary base 60k 15 bps for anything you sold as a one time payment plus a little more after a huge hurdle. Basically you’d have to sell 30 million a year to make over 100k, doubtful anyone makes money there, their portfolios are mot horrible from ones my current firm ACAT’d in, but they seem to lack any real relationships with clients or advisers. Life’s a people game if you’re a robo advisor with slight human touches no one’s going to pay you for long over 30 bps. I’d short the company if they were public, don’t see the business model working long term. I’d bet their CFA/portfolio manager team are all super smart, but people invest with people they like and trust, not a one time Charlie salesperson. Have to say I am glad I didn’t get an offer.
