Applied on their website, got a call the very next day asking me to come in for an interview. Manager was on time but took appointments for a while before actually sitting down to talk with me.
About 40 minutes straight of "tell me about a time when you..." questions, then he wanted to test me on product placement. He gave me a couple of small aisles to memorize where all the separate products were (small animal, starter kits, etc.) then disappeared for 25 minutes or so? Finally found him again but instead of testing me on placement, he told me to treat him as a customer wanting to buy a setup for a guinea pig. Luckily I've owned guinea pigs but I couldn't get started because he kept wandering off to ask customers how they were doing and strike up conversation with them. Sent me off telling me there was a very intense training period of several weeks and they might call me.
Got called in for another interview a few days later which seemed to go much better. A different manager took me around the store, telling me about the schedule, policies on selling animals, store morals, etc. I was told there was another girl contesting for the position, but that it would be either me or both me and her to get it, and to expect a call in the next couple of days. Never heard back from them though.
