Brief call with a recruiter at Point72, who seemed nice. She sent over a take home case study, which involved forecasting how a particular equity would perform two quarters from now and submitting a model as well as a two page research report.
I thought the case was interesting and spent plenty of time on it. They didn’t provide any data, so I was free to use as much public data as I wanted, and I built what I thought was a decent model.
I never heard back after submitting my case study. I followed up with the recruiter a few times over the next month, and never received any indication that the case had been reviewed by a hiring manager. No form rejection, either, which would have been fine.
I thought it was disrespectful to require a very involved project and to then “ghost” a candidate. A rejection would have been fine, but ignoring a candidate’s request for an update is inconsiderate and a sign of a badly run process.
