      Senior Backend Developer Interview

      20 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Prodigy Education in Feb 2021

      Interview

Had an initial fit phone interview with them where I described my experience and why i want to work for them. Overall, it went well, and they sent me some link for some coding questions to solve in whatever language you prefer. You get 3 hours to solve 3 questions. I did the coding questions during the the next few days, and never heard from them again. It even said in the link for coding questions they gave that I should be contacted for feedback in the next few days. Tried to follow up for some feedback, but not even a reply. Completely unprofessional.

      Senior Backend Developer Interview

      2 Mar 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Oakville, ON
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Prodigy Education (Oakville, ON) in Feb 2021

      Interview

The process took a few weeks and was well conducted by the recruiter and the involved team. To me the process was conducted entirely online (due COVID) and consisted of: - Phone screening - 30 minutes with general questions, I was asked as well about salary expectations. - Coding challenge on Codility. I had 3 hours to do 3 tasks. The first task was to create some coding using any language. The second task was a SQL query question. The third was an architecture question. - Then I had a 1 hour interview with 2 developers about my previous experiences. - After that it was a 1.5 hour interview with one Director and 2 developers. This was more focused on architecture, give examples of past success/failure situations and hypothetical architecture for other systems. - The last part was another 1 hour interview for cultural fit. Questions around how I addressed situations on work environment in the past. After that I got a call from recruiter to make an offer, I negotiated the salary and ended up accepting it. One major takeaway of the whole process is: be prepared to answer the same questions among different interviews. Although it's clear the interviewers shared notes, sometimes they ask the same questions. Be prepared to answer how you learn new stuff. I liked the whole process a lot. None of the questions were catchy or to trick you. The coding challenges were as close as possible to real world questions which I appreciate much more than the Silicon Valley bs.
