I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Tucson, AZ) in Jan 2019
Interview
Process took over 4 weeks to be interviewed on the phone. HR from Phoenix seemed like she had not gone over my application at all upon calling. She did not know which city I was applying for, and seemed like she hadn't even looked over my resume. She asked me to describe each job I held in scrutinizing detail, asked how long I stayed, why I left, if I was terminated or if I voluntarily quit, and also asked why there was gaps in my employment history. She also asked me why I would voluntarily quit a job knowing that I do not have another job waiting. When I answered her questions she immediately asked the same question again after as if she was either not paying attention or she was questioning my answer. She let me know they will verify all your employment and do a thorough background check to see if what you tell them matches up.
Additionally, she explained to me that a lot of people that come to work as Claims Adjuster Trainees that were successful in other organizations fail at their position in Progressive. She explained that it is difficult for most employees who have no previous insurance background and ones that do tend to be more successful. She noted that you have metrics that are expected to be met and a certain number of clients every day. She also stated that sometimes you will get a larger workload than your peers and your open tickets pile up day after day and you can only spend so much time on them otherwise you will fail to meet the metrics required.
She also notified me that training is paid, and you will be sent out of town (paid) to Tempe or Ohio. Overall, easy interview, but her style was very interrogative and negative. I will not be trying to move forward with this position even if I am called back.
