I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Bohemia, NY) in Aug 2014
Interview
Applied online. Received email for phone interview. Phone interview was wonderful with a Human Resource professional. STAR interview.
Assessment tests and background checks required.HR professional passed me forward for face to face interview. I was supposed to meet with Manager, instead, his assistant interviewed me. I believe the assistant didn't have very much interviewing experience as I was declined for the position, yet passed with flying colors with a professional HR recruiter for the company. Basically, I had the same answers for him as it was a STAR interview.
I was declined the position by phone, which was professional. When I inquired why, the young lady who called me to tell me, all of a sudden developed an air of arrogance and said my answers were not specific enough and talked too much!?!
That was strange, as the recruiter loved me. I asked the young man in the face to face interview if I answered everything for him and did he have any questions for me to clarify anything. I believe he just discriminated against me due to my age, as during the interview, everything seemed great. He or they searched for an excuse. I see the same answer on some other people's interview experiences.
Why waste everyone's time and the company's money if the interviews are not going to be conducted professionally until the very end of the process.
I applied online. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Colorado Springs, CO)
Interview
Met the minimum requirements, then I got a link to the four part assessment. Once I passed the assessment, almost right away I got an invite to a HireVue interview. Finally, I got to interview with real people.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you had to deal with a difficult customer.
It was a fairly lengthly process which involved the application, an assessment, pre-recorded one way interview, and a live virtual interview. Asked behavior-based STAR questions. It was extensive with at least 10 questions.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Allentown, PA) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process is extensive, there are several levels after applying for the position. Initially there are several questions to answer followed by a video interview with Behavioral questions to be answered in their STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result) followed by the following interview with an actual manager. This interview was also answering additional behavioral questions in the STAR format and answering several other questions. After all was said and done. I received an e-mail informing me they went a different direction.
