I applied online. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance
Interview
I applied for the position online on May 26th. On May 28th I received via email a request to complete a pre-employment assessment they state it will take 45-60 minutes to complete and you can only take it once every 6 months. The assessment is timed and you can see time left but if you need to take a break you can log out and the time stops but you have to complete within 48 hours. You will receive results via email within 2 days, I got mine the next day stating I met the qualifications and will receive a email in the next few days with the next step in the process. June 4th I received a phone interview request link. You schedule your requested time yourself and then you get a reminder. My phone interview was on June 9th and Jeff called right on time. He made the interview very relaxed and as comfortable as can be expected. He went over the company benefits, the position (salary, bonus, schedules ect) and verified my work history off my resume. All the time he would ask if I had any questions and if I did he would answer them. Then the STAR questions and again Jeff put me at ease and before I knew it he was asking if I had any other questions for him which I did and he answered. Then Jeff said the next step would be for him to recommend that they move forward in the process and he would send links for the background check to me and this process will take about 2 days then I will be scheduled for a onsite interview. He offered the name of the company doing the background checks and that was it. I have to say that if it wasn't for Jeff making me feel so comfortable I don't think I would have made it thru the interview I was so nervous and over focused on the STAR questions and answers.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
The first question he asked was about customer focus "tell me about a time you helped a customer who had previously had an unpleasant experience"
The second question was "Tell me about a time there was significant change at the company and how you made the change with them. Was this difficult? What did you do to change?"
Thanks so much for this feedback. It's really helpful to know what makes the experience a positive one. We'll be sure to pass this along! -KH, Recruiting

Application
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Sacramento, CA) in Nov 2016
Interview
I applied for Progressive in October 2016. I got an email stating that my resume had passed the initial check and I was being moved forward in the process within a few days of submitting my application.
The next morning I was sent a link to complete an online assessment.
The assessment was pretty standard. Simple math word questions, some chart reading, and then a personality test where you rate things on a 1 - 5 scale from completely disagree to completely agree.
The morning after I completed the assessment I received an email stating that I had passed and would be moving forward in the process. I received a link to schedule an over the phone interview. I scheduled it at the soonest possible date which was 4 days away.
I completed my phone interview yesterday, which I must admit I was very nervous about. I didn't think it went very smoothly, but never the less, about 2 hours after the interview I received another email saying that I passed the interview and would be moving forward to the background check.
Since I've gotten this far, I'm feeling pretty hopeful.
The phone interview went like this:
The recruiter called at the exact minute that I scheduled the interview for. I had prepared in advance and I STRONGLY suggest you do the same.
She started out by going over the position and salary. The pay range in the job posting was from 16.50 to 20.90 per hour and she informed me that the people that get 18.50-20.90 have auto insurance experience. Then she asked me what I wanted to make per hour. I suggest you ask for more than you assume you'll get because they have wiggle room.
She talked about the schedule and asked when I could work and if I would need any time off during the extensive training period which is a few months long.
She asked me about my previous jobs and why I left and what I liked and disliked about them.
She asked me why I wanted to work for Progressive and I could tell that this was one of the most important questions. You need to research the company because she will ask what you know about them.
Then we did 3 behavioral questions which I answered in the STAR format just as I practiced.
Overall I was nervous and I stuttered a few times. When I hung up I thought I had failed for sure, but was so happy to get that email that I was moving forward only an hour or so after the interview ended. Good luck!

Interview
I submitted an application and was invited to take the preemployment exam. There was a two hour window recommended, but I completed it in under 30 minutes. I received a form letter saying I am not a strong enough match but they liked what they saw. I am barred from retaking the test for 180 days but they may contact me regarding a position that better suits my qualifications.
