      Health and Safety Advisor Interview

      29 Sept 2021

      Eastleigh, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Prysmian (Eastleigh, England) in Sept 2021

      Interview

First stage was an online interview- Very impressed with the hiring manager. Down to earth, value driven H&S outlook rather than process for process sake. Second stage was a face to face with HR and the Hiring manager- Again, hiring manager knew his stuff and as we all know you never work for a company, you work for the manager, so you know you’ll enjoy the job just because of the Hiring Manager . HR, well HR is HR! Seemed very focused on my contracting and asked cost focused questions. Example: What do you do if a customer has a problem and it’s expense to fix. As H&S my answer was assuming it was a H&S issue, so make safe and keep the customer happy and report back on larger issue. Not the correct answer! It was a project management question which throw me, as it would anyone in a H&S interview being asked Project Management questions. so don’t make that mistake and say “ask for technical support from office before making a decision”. I am leaning towards the views of other reviews about HR on here, but the guy was pleasant and I may being doing him a disservice if I did agree with other reviews, so I will hold any judgment. They seem to be a bit behind the times, but don’t be put off by a lack of technology systems, they are working on reporting apps etc, and the Recruiting Manager is knowledgeable enough for the systems to add value. HR seemed very focused on money, and why a person would apply for a job for less money. I explained the justification (travel, work life balance etc). However, it did make me uncomfortable and just because a person doesn’t want to chase a pound note doesn’t mean a person lacks ambition or will be lazy which is the overall feeling I was left with. So consider your response on this. All in all, pretty good interview. They were Polite, considerate and professional, if a little rough round the edges. I’ve had worse!
