I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Quantexa (Boston, MA) in Jan 2024
Interview
My point of contact throughout the interview process was Sumayyah. Sumayyah made a significant difference when it came time to accept the offer. Since the very first interview, she was very nice and supportive, answering any questions I had and ensuring to check in to see if I needed anything.
The first stage was the HR interview, where we discussed my experience, the role, and why I wanted to work at Quantexa.
After the initial interview, I received the coding project, which I had a week to complete. This project was in Scala and Spark. Although I did not have experience in Scala, I had plenty of time to learn it and complete the assignment. Sumayyah provided me with resources and answered any questions I had about the assignment.
The final interview consisted of a 2-hour session with two current Data Engineers. First, we introduced ourselves and discussed my experience. Then, I presented a project that I had worked on. Following the presentation, we talked about the role, and I had the opportunity to ask questions. Next, we reviewed the coding assignment, specifically discussing the problems I did not complete correctly. Afterward, there was a business case study. For this part, I found that watching videos and reading through the Quantexa website was immensely helpful.
After the final interview, I heard back within a few days and set up a call to receive feedback about the interview.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Quantexa (Boston, MA) in Mar 2023
Interview
The whole process took about three weeks. First, I had a 30 min call with HR where I was asked about my CV, my experience and interest in Big Data. At the end of the call, I was told I would be progressing to the next stage : the coding assignment in scala or spark, that you get to start on the same day so make sure you have a free week. I thought this was quite challenging because I had never learned Scala. However, you have one week to complete it so it is doable! Also, if I had any doubts HR answered my question pretty quickly so I felt supported in the process. I heard back about 48 hours after submitting the assignment that I would be making it to the final round, that I was able to have enough time to prepare for (from my experience Quantexa was very flexible to accommodate me according to my schedule). The final round consisted of a presentation that you need to prepare in advance on a complex topic, I chose to talk about my thesis. After the presentation, there was a q&a. Second part was the code review, definitely prepare to explain your thought process behind every line of code and be open feedback. Then, the final part was a case study. I heard back the next working day and received an offer. Overall, I thought the process was challenging but fair. The people I spoke to were very kind and professional, would recommend applying!
