This firm and it's employees are a joke. I flew across the country from the NYC area for what I thought seemed like a promising interview for a Compliance position. When I opened the door to the office I almost started laughing. There is no front desk area, and the entire back office is a large table with a few guys sitting around it bunched together with their computers. The entire office is smaller than the reception area at my current firm. They are either extremely cheap or don't make enough money to purchase real desk space and don't care for their employees. Although turned off, I figured what the hell, maybe I can bring my real experience and show these guys a thing or two about what this business is supposed to be like and help them grow. I was then greeted by the hiring manager and taken to their little conference room for the "interview". I was asked almost no real questions, instead we had regular conversation about my experiences in the industry and his own. This lasted for a little over an hour. After telling me how well my experience matched up with what they were looking for, he asked me for a few professional references to contact about me and said that we would be in touch. Everything seemed like it went very smoothly, and I thought we got along great. He may make you feel comfortable and as if he is relating his experiences and life with yours. Make no mistake about it though, he is really just another " C U Next Tuesday" who has no backbone and just wants to talk about himself and his glory days. A little over two weeks had gone by and I received an email from the manager thanking me for my interest, but they went with another candidate. That seemed very odd to me, since he told me that they have been searching for about a year for the right candidate. Somehow this person decided to come along at the exact same time as myself. I inquired about what drove them to make the decision, and was left with nothing. He didn't even have the decency to respond, knowing that I flew more than 2500 miles across the country to meet him. I then decided to get in touch with the people whom I listed as references, and found out that they were never even contacted. This firm and their people cannot be trusted. From the management down to their advisors, I would not trust a single word these people say. They also refused to disclose the brokerage side assets under management to me when I asked (multiple times), probably because they are too embarrassed. For reference, their entire advisory business has less AUM than a single account at the firm I am currently with. Luckily this information is readily available on the SEC's IAPD registry page. I would not recommend doing any type of business with this firm to anyone.
