Meeting with HR and marketing was very pleasant and professional. I was asked many questions about my experience and qualifications and felt very comfortable with the entire process. I left with a really good feeling about the position and the office and immedialtly composed my thank you email only to be get a very quick reply to have me come in to meet the owner and manager the following afternoon. Very excited and did my research on the company and family and pleased with the results. I come in the early the next day and was told the owner had not arrived yet so I waited about 15 minutes and he comes in the door walks past me then quickly turns around and says, "I'll be with you in five minutes"....20 minutes go by without anyone offering water or bothering to get up from their desks. He finally comes down and asks me upstairs to his office for our interview. Firstly, I did not appreciate that he left his damn door wide open for the entire office to hear, but secondly he asked my lots of really odd questions like he had been prying into my digital history which had never happened to me before. So he asks me what I thought about a previous owner of a position I held at a winery, which I thought was odd and unprofessional, I really had no contact with the owner during my time there. Next, he asks me if I have ever used "Glassdoor" and I say yes of course! He then proceeds to tell me, "Oh that must be you then on your must recent employer, what exactly did you say?" I wanted to tell him, well you read it....what do you think? Anyway, I repeated what I had posted and the look on the mans face was less than pleased. He takes another look at my resume and says, "Wow you must be a professional interviewer by now."
I have never walked away from an interview more upset and disappointed than I was interviewing with this man. I felt he was arrogant and did nothing but belittle me in front of his entire office. The owner is arrogant and comes from a privileged life with no understanding of interacting with everyday people...social skills....missing the chip.
Our interview concluded with him saying, "Nice interview" and walked two feet to the edge of the stairs as I starting walking down. Like any normal person in an interview they would actually walk you to the door in my opinion. Not this guy, I was the scum on the bottom of his show that day.....not worthy. I mentioned, " So hopefully I will hear back from you soon". He turned around and walked back into his office without a word.
Lastly, walking through the office he has all his accounting ladies facing each other in parallel rows so all can be seen and watched. As I walked by, not a peep or a glance, all diligently glaring at their tiny little screens. Think, "Joe and the Volcano"......This man is their overload. I asked what the culture was in the office and I heard crickets.......
