      Paid Social Specialist Interview

      13 Mar 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Santa Monica, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at RPA (Santa Monica, CA) in Jan 2024

      Interview

It was 3 rounds. I was initially told it would only be one round, but was moved to a third. Phone screener, first interview with a manager and second with an account director. I thought the interview process went exceedingly well. I was even told, verbatim, during an interview that it was “one of the best interview experiences they had ever had,” and days later I received a rejection in favor of someone that was “a better fit for the role,” when I met *every* qualification. It was the first time in 5 months of actively interviewing places where it felt like I may have found an opportunity for me. I could not believe it when I was rejected. I was told that I was looked over because of a “lack of understanding about roles and responsibilities of other teams within advertising” - something that is not true at all, nor was I given an opportunity to display that. Also, I’ve never worked at this agency before, so how would I know how their teams function?

Thank you so much for the feedback on your interview experience. I was working on this role, and I will tell you that we had an overwhelming number of extremely qualified candidates. So I firmly believe that you did very well in the interview - it's just likely that we had someone else interview who had more relevant experience to the role. Please reach out - we keep track of all of our past candidates, and I would love to stay in touch regarding future roles, either here or at other agencies. I would be happy to help you connect with other HR leaders in this space. Thanks for your interest in RPA!
