The interview process was general and swiftly. The questions were spartan, general, and I had a feeling that they were rushing the process and there was something troubling me that I couldn't put my finger on. I felt like they were skirting questions I had about the art program, school, and student behavior. The interview was conducted by the head of the District's Art Department with 1 principal and two specialists in attendance. The called me back about 45 minutes after the interview to say they were recommending me to the post but that I had to speak to the superintendent. This was just a general chat. Again, they skirted the issue of details about the post. I found out that the lessons were 35 minutes at one school from asking the head of the art department. I asked if they could extend the time to at least 40-45 minutes. I found out later that one of the school has 30 min classes and one of the schools has back to back classes without time in between for transitioning or going to the restroom. Additionally, they did not tell me that I would also teach k-4 Behavior and Emotionally disturbed self contained students, or that I would spend a good part of my day doing 3 duties. I found out that they offered the post to several other people before me and that the formal art teacher resigned because they wouldn't give her 45 min classes and because the student behavior plans were not really enforced. She also inferred that I would not do well as an outsider and that the district usually only hires staff who grew up there.
