      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Reckitt (Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, Yorkshire and the Humber, England) in May 2017

      Interview

Assessment day - two group project in the morning. each lasting around 45 minutes. the afternoon consisted of psychometric tests and 2-on-1 interviews with members of the QC team (one senior, one who had been at the department for a couple of years). arrived at 10am, lunch was provided, the assessment was completed just before 3pm.

      Interview questions [4]

      Question 1

the day started with a group exercise to test your communication skills. ours was called "ZOOM". basically each applicant was given 6 A4 cards with an image on each. we could not show the cards to one another, but we had to figure out which order they went in

      Question 2

the next part of the day was another group-project. we were split into two groups of 3. for 30 minutes we had to look over a fake HPLC chromatograph and decide what we thought was shown i.e. contamination, malpractice, human-error, etc. we were observed by members of the QC department for this 30 minute period. at the end of it the QC department members left and we had to present our ideas to other members for 10 minutes. no feedback on how we did was given.

      Question 3

"psychometric tests". these were, in my opinion, not particularly difficult timed critical thinking puzzles that were carried out individually. we were told they were different for each assessment day, but if you've ever done critical thinking tests i.e. aptitude tests, you should be fine. it's key to remember that they're not not looking for the tests to be fully completed in the allotted time, but instead wanting to see how accurate you can be whilst getting as much done as possible. so balance your time with your accuracy.

      Question 4

the 2-on-1 interviews were pretty average. mainly in-depth questioning on our understanding of HPLC operating, GMP, and safe lab practice. the last three questions were based upon RB's 4 goals and examples of us undertaking these in our personal or professional life.

      Interview

Panel or Team Interview: You might meet with a group of team members, including chemists, engineers, and quality or safety experts. This stage assesses how well you’d collaborate within a cross-functional team, your communication skills, and your ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Final Interview and Offer: In the final stage, you could have a one-on-one meeting with a senior leader or executive to discuss the strategic impact of your role, your career aspirations, and how you align with the company’s sustainability goals. Following successful completion, reference checks and a formal offer are made.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What is the one key factor you focus on when troubleshooting unexpected issues during the catalyst scale-up process?" In my response, I emphasized that maintaining rigorous process control and a proactive risk assessment strategy is critical. I explained that I always start by analyzing the specific parameters of the process, identifying any deviations from the expected performance, and then collaborating with cross-functional teams (such as engineers and quality assurance specialists) to pinpoint the root cause. This methodical approach ensures that any issues are addressed promptly while safeguarding compliance with GMP and GLP standards.
