I interviewed at Red Barn Technology Group (Binghamton, NY)
Interview
The owner and CEO lowballed me at 40k for a full stack developer position. Could tell this guy was a gaslighting grifter and would not be good to work for. I asked about the local presence of RBTG in the community and he dodged the question, like all others I asked, and said they were trying to have a “global reach”. He talked nonstop and barely let anyone else get a word in and I suspect he has ADD cause he looked at his phone and got off topic so much there was 0 flow to the interview. He also let his dogs up on the table during the interview and thought it was funny. Such an unprofessional atmosphere I couldn’t wait to get out and decline the offer. It was funny seeing his face when I said that this place lacked the structure and the environment needed to flourish. He got mad. After further research this company basically has a dirt reputation because of the owner/ceo burning bridges in the community. Also I could tell this is the most toxic workplace…he told a few employees that were sitting in that they were “wrong” on numerous things, but this guy couldn’t even speak the language of computer science."
I applied online. I interviewed at Red Barn Technology Group (Binghamton, NY) in Nov 2020
Interview
I had one interview in a group zoom setting with the owner, some other devs, and a manager. The interview was not difficult or extremely technical. We generally talked about the goals of the company and what they wanted in a new dev.
The fun part (and why I am writing this review) is that the owner lowballed me at 40k for a CS grad from a top university in New York State in a dev job basically in a start up mode for an established company is basically dirt. Not only did he offer dirt, he acted like I was a jerk for not jumping at the opportunity. There is no way that he was going to be a nice guy to work for (from that interaction). I cant imagine trying to ask for time off from a guy that so is so easily willing to gaslight his employees.
