Interview
Several interviews as well as a case study at the end. Interviews with the full leadership team and HR. The process took a bit over a month and moved relatively quickly.
I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Reforge in Aug 2023
Interview
45 min zoom, Recruiter 1 hour zoom, Hiring Manager Assignment Submission (they may or may not have you present) 1 hour panel presentation to 4 Reforge employees 4 hours - 1 with each of the employees on the panel This process was a ton of time and effort with very little opportunity to learn about the company and culture. The employee responses around work/life balance were very big red flags and their lack of ability to identify their business/hiring needs shows significant gaps in leadership and business acumen. At the end, then informed me that they probably need more of a growth marketing manager/generalist instead of a senior product marketer that was advertised.

Question 1
Lots of.. "tell me a time" questions Examples of how you execute Absolutely no culture/get to know you questions
Cold outreach about the position. I'm pretty happy with my current role, but decided to take the call because I've heard great things about Reforge as a learning platform. Red flag 1: during the call, I was asked where I heard about the role (um, through you because you reached out to me?) and repeat 4x that this was a "hands on" position. Despite my response that I do that currently - manage a team of developers and am hands on with planning - the question was repeated. Despite this, I decided to continue to the next round. Red flag 2: While the overall conversation during round 2 was good and typical - management style, deep dive into a recent project - I didn't like the overall response to a question I had about their recent layoffs. "We didn't hire the right people." I get that layoffs happen, it's a business, but to shirk responsibility and assign blame to the employees you let go didn't sit well with me. While I'd already made up my mind to pass on continuing in the process or referring anyone in my network, Reforge helped that decision by simply not following up with me after round 2. Ghosted! Win win.
