I was initially contacted by a third party recruiter. The recruiter set me up with a phone interview with the hiring manager.
When speaking to the hiring manager, I knew that the company would not be a good fit for me when he told me that they only fly on two airlines- my home airport is not a hub for either airline and therefore, would have to make connections. For a traveling technician (I am a frequent flyer in my current job) trying to deal with getting to the customer site on time with the potential of flight delays and cancelations currently affecting all travelers, this is unacceptable.
The interview then started to turn into an interrogation when I did my best to identify the two types of dental x rays. I didn't get the nomenclature down pat. He was peppering me with "how do you know that?" First of all, I did my best to prepare for the interview. Second, my late brother used to work on X-Ray equipment.
Also, the bonus program, that the recruiter was pushing, turned out to be unreachable. The installation technician would have to trained on practically all of the different manufacturers equipment.
After the interview, I called the recruiter and told him that I didn't feel that this would be a good fit for me. I then texted the hiring manager and let him know that I was no longer interested in the position.
