I applied online. I interviewed at Residential Options (Okemos, MI) in Jul 2017
Interview
Applied on Handshake, took 2 months to get a call back. Fast and casual interview process. First a phone interview to ask about you and your education as well as interest in the work followed by an in-person interview, if selected. I went through both and while he was kind, communication with the HR guy was severely lacking. Both of my interviews went incredibly well, but I did not hear back from the company even after kindly requesting a status update via email. I wish I could tell you why I did not receive an offer for the position, but I have no idea. While it seems totally typical these days to not get a reason for your rejection, the practice is sincerely inconsiderate.
I am a new grad with my B.S. in Psychology, and was told upfront that was acceptable, but when I got to the interview to fill out an in-person application, the form stated master's degrees were preferred, so I have no idea if I was actually under-qualified. I also stated during my interview that I intended to attend grad school in the distant future, but perhaps I should have excluded my goals when I was asked about them. Also note that at this time, they're not offering full-time. C'est la vie.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Would you rather work with children who may hit, bite, or scratch you, or with adults who may need help with personal hygiene/sanitary matters?
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Residential Options (Lansing, MI) in Jan 2014
Interview
The interview was low key and brief. No surprises. You speak with HR supervisor and discuss your education and professional background. Then you discuss your availability. They want you to be able to work weekends and some holidays if necessary. Then you meet with consumers family and figure out if you are a good match for the client. After that you make a schedule.
