When interviewing candidates, do not insult them by trying to low ball your offer. I had to go into the office to interview during COVID, which I thought was strange. Once I got there with the hiring manager offered me the job at $25,000 less than the recruiter told me and I agreed to after the interview. It is my belief because I'm younger he sized me up and thought he could pay much less than I what I was offered originally. Which was pretty insulting.
