Really wish they were more upfront with candidates about how close they were to filling their roles before assigning cases and scheduling screens. Or that they wouldn't start new candidates in the process when chances are that the role will fill in the next 1-2 days.
I got redirected several times to different hiring managers on the same team, each time not hearing back after the initial phone screen. Each time I reached out regarding next steps, and each time was told the position just got filled but they would like to consider me for a different role. That's ok and understandable in cases where the up-front investment had been only the phone chat, but in the last iteration I had received and completed a take-home case (with the ask to complete it on a fast turnaround to keep up with other candidates' timelines) by the time they let me know they already filled the role.
