      Production Manager Interview

      10 Mar 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      São Paulo, São Paulo
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Riot Games (São Paulo, São Paulo) in Mar 2020

      Interview

Just some quick background. I have played League of Legends for nearly a decade, Riot Games' regional offices have lean team structures thus they do not open positions often and I had networked with some executives. When the position became available I applied and in about two weeks after the CV/screening I got a call with the HR in which we discussed my business background and my passion for the game. This call felt like a conversation and they are indeed just trying to get to know you better. The HR department is really friendly and they follow up with you frequently. After around 4 weeks I got invited to an 1:1 presencial interview with one of the executives. The interview went on for about 35 minutes and again I talked about my background and my passion for the games, but I had the feeling it was"open" and shallow. The interviewer did not ask much about my skills related to the job and made a few random observations, he really did not seem much interested. One week later I got dinged because they chose to advance other candidates and they were kind enough to give me some feedback, even though most of it was not brought up during the interview. Had I moved forward, I would have attended the Super Day, Riot's one day interview marathon. The only reason I have rated the interview as neutral is because the HR and everyone I had networked before is really really friendly. The 1:1 and feedback were negative experiences so it balanced out. Also, for the hardcore gamers that also meet the job criterias, my advice is to not rely too much on your passion for the games. While it certainly counts, I thought it would be more meaningful, so it was a bit frustrating.
