I applied through university. I interviewed at Rivian (Normal, IL) in Jan 2021
Interview
First call was a screen with a recruiter, second was a 45min technical interview with a Engineer. He was very intelligent, Had a PHD after I looked him up.
The interview was difficult from a metallurgy and material science and welding engineering perspective, far more difficult than Tesla in my opinion.
But as long as you understand the mechanisms you should be fine. I personally enjoyed finally talking with someone who knows what I'm saying.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Can you explain the mechanism of centerline cracking in the GTAW Weld you described earlier.
Recruiter call
HM virtual meeting basic engineering questions about production line and equipment. And behavior questions . Not difficult just I was just not prepared as I'm just wondering how the market look
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Production line equipment related
PLC
Basic behavior questions like handling multiple projects at the same time
Mentor junior engineer
Etc.
The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Rivian (Palo Alto, CA) in Sept 2024
Interview
Recruiter never showed up or followed up after setting up an interview for several weeks. Easy STAR based behavioral situations but lack of active communication from the recruiter really put me off.
Recruiter interview followed up by manager interview. Presentation to panel. Then individual interviews with each member followed up by a final interview with the director. Good processed though very time consuming.
