I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Rivian in Dec 2021
Interview
I was told TRAIL salaries are "non-negotiable" to keep it fair for everyone. After talking to other people offered a spot in the program, I found that their offers were of varying amounts. This caused Rivian to lose a lot of credibility in my eyes.
I also received a full-time (non-rotational) offer. The recruiter informed me that I must make a decision within "3 days" as they "only wanted candidates gung-ho about Rivian" and that the org's director would "wonder if I'm using the company just for negotiation." This was for a position I wouldn't start for 6+ months. The fact that Rivian was offering less than the industry standard 2 weeks (let along just 3 days) caused me to lose lots of respect for Rivian as a company. I cannot imagine any person making such an important life decision in so little time. It felt as if I was being pressured to sign before I finished interviewing with other companies.
I requested informational phone calls with the manager and director (it was clear neither of them cared about me making a decision within 3 days). Suddenly the pressure from the recruiter disappeared and I was allowed more time to make a decision.
I understand Rivian needs to fill spots but the unprofessional attitude by the recruiter very much jaded Rivian in my eyes and certainly had an impact on my final decision.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rivian in Nov 2022
Interview
The interviewers were very kind and friendly. A lot of technical questions and engineering fundamentals. Some were very conversational and to do with their compass values. Ask a lot of questions back to them.

Interview
I had one HR phone interview followed by a technical presentation + three technical interviews. I had close contact with the recruiter, who called me about basically everything, including that I didn't get the job.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Rivian (Irvine, CA) in Oct 2022
Interview
A two step process: 1. Phone Call with the recruiter and discussed about the overall company, availability, compensation and my biggest achievement as a mechanical engineer 2. 3 hour long interview with 3 different panelists who were directors and managers. Was also asked to prepare a ppt on my biggest technical achievement All panelists were very kind and enthusiastic and listened to me patiently. Overall a very good learning experience
