This was a rather negative experience. First off we all started in the room with the National manager introducing the other 4 store and state managers that were there and giving a brief history of the company.
Then 3 of the higher up managers left to start the individual interviews.
For the next 2 hours (the whole interview) we were basically given a PT session.
It was ridiculous. We had to do continuous squats, situps, pushups, lunges, wheelbarrow races with partners, wall sits, you name it. We didn't really get a break. It wasn't a couple of activities of physical fitness, the whole entire time was exercise. Even while we had to talk to the rest of the group introducing our partner, they made us all do squats and lunges on the spot while we were talking.
They came up with things to do on the spot which is probably why it was all fitness stuff because they literally had nothing better planned or prepared.
They asked a few different times for the applicants who did dancing to come up and teach the group a dance. There were no volunteers so the managers made us hold a squat on the spot "until someone volunteers".
Finally people volunteered and we all had to learn how to do basic ballet, hip hop and salsa moves. We also all had to learn how to do handstands.
The worst part is that not once did any of them ask if anyone had injuries or illnesses. They never said that it was okay to not do an activity or to just do what we felt comfortable and capable of doing.
Not once were we warned that there would be exercise in the interview. In fact at the start of the interview they stated we would do "fun activities" that would definitely not be like a gym workout.
There was a lot of pressure on who was the fittest person and could hold the longest wall sit or continuous situps etc. They made me feel like if we didn't participate in one of the exercises we would be looked down on and no longer considered for the job.
The only break we got was the exact 5 minutes we all individually left to do the one on one interview. Everyone was really excited to get out and do the individual interview just to have a break.
At the end they called out names of who could proceed to the next stage and everyone else could leave.
I didn't get the job which is fine and I'm not leaving this review out of bitterness from not succeeding, just to prewarn future interviewees.
