      Director-level Interview

      20 Jun 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Rokt (New York, NY) in Apr 2021

      Interview

Probably a personal top 10% unsatisfying interview experience: Applied via their website. Did an aptitude test, was actually kind of fun. Didn't hear back for a month. Coordinator scheduled a call with someone at the similar-level. Spoke for 30-45 minutes. Said if the role I specifically applied for didn't work out, there were potentially other openings. Next interview would be with CEO, Bruce. Bruce asked questions about how I thought about current issues within the industries of my past experience. Asked a question about how something I had to overcome early in my life impacted how I am now. Overall thought it went okay. Was determined that the original role might not be the best fit. Would speak with another C-suite exec next to see if there was an opening on their team. That 3rd interview was basically a waste of time. Not many questions asked, it was more of an informational, e.g. what questions did I have for them. This could've been skipped completely and turned into an email and save everyone time. Was kicked back to Interviewer 1. Didn't hear back from Interviewer 1. When inquired about next steps, was unceremoniously sent the rejection email. Not sure if I was expected to make the big pitch and try to define/carve out a role here (also mentioned by another director-level candidate in an prior review) at Interview 3 but they definitely could've communicated the process better after the CEO round. Recruiters should be involved at all levels of the process, not just the beginning. Felt like a huge waste of time in retrospect. If you value your time, make sure you feel like they value yours during the process.
