      Christmas Casual Interview

      3 Dec 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Edinburgh, Scotland
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Royal Mail (Edinburgh, Scotland) in Nov 2016

      Interview

The interview was at a hotel and I was running late so I phoned the hotel to let them know, then when I got there they were really nice about it and didn't seem to care. They just said the time slot was a rough guide but as long as I turned up it was fine. The woman explained that all of the day shifts had been filled so there were only night shifts left, which I wasn't keen on, so she explained I could be placed on a waiting list for a day shift. I had to show that I had all of the documents with me then I was taken to a bigger room with tables and waiting areas set up. There were a lot of people there so I didn't feel nervous at all. I got shown to a table opposite a really nice lady and she gave me options of shift patterns and asked me to choose which one I would prefer if I got the job. Then she checked all of my documents and she noticed I dance so we were chatting about that for a bit which definitely put me more at ease. She then took the documents to another woman who checked them over again, then I was moved to a waiting area a few tables down. A man at one of the tables then called my name and again checked my documents, explained that I would be put on the reserve list and if anything came up they would be in touch, and then gave me a sheet of paper confirming this. I was then shown to another table where I was told all of the safety information and what to wear during a shift. They then took my picture and that was it. It was a very easy interview and everyone was so nice so I felt very at ease. I clicked on Accepted Offer as I was successful so was placed on the waiting list, but theres still not been an opening yet.
