I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Ryan Homes
Interview
Initial email contact with recruiter - very unprofessional, typos, missed appointment times, etc. Should have had a clue at that point. Follow-up interviews with different sales managers - first guy told me that he had "no doubt" that I could do the job right now, but he thought that I would not be "greedy enough" to force through enough sales. Because in his opinion, greed was what it takes. I kid you not. Honestly, I did not expect that and was kind of thrown off from that point on. No, I was way thrown off, I could no stop thinking that "greed" was the primary prerequisite. It colored everything for me from that point on - like, how do i fit "greed" into this or that question? Made me even more uncomfortable than a normal interview.
Anyway - expect an initial phone interview with behaviorial questions based on your resume, a personality test that is all yes or no with nothing in between, a logic based exam, and a multi-person face to face. They herded the interviewees into a room together and made us wait awhile - one guy had to face them all together at one time. The rest of us were one on one interviews and back to the room to wait. They do massive college recruiting for this position and being right out of school is probably your best bet, imo. Also helps to get a current employee referral. If you really want the job - go to one of the model homes and make a friend for a while. It helps if you have actually been in the homes/developments and can talk about them, in any case.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Got a lot of questions based on who they seemed to already think that I was. Like, "I think that you will be bored with this after awhile." And, "there will be days when no one comes into your model home" ..and you might not do well with that...Also regular stuff like "Tell me about a time that you took a risk." "Tell me about a time that you were challenged with a problem and what you did to resolve it."
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Ryan Homes in Jan 2015
Interview
I was recruited by a recruiting agency. Went through hours of online testing and numerous telephone interviews. Did not make it to the Panel interview due to "lack of sales information" while my work history was clearly stated on my resume. It is evident that my resume was not fully vetted before the interview process started.
