I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at SOUTHWORKS in Feb 2023
Interview
1st Step: interview with HR, all good! 2nd Step: a very long, automated English test.(Which gave a very strange score, given that I'm a native speaker). 3rd Step: Codility exercise. It was quite difficult, and far away from something you would use on an ordinary day. 3rd Step: Interview with a "Principal" (equivalent of architect, for the purposes of this review). It was scheduled for an hour, ended up lasting over two. This was, by far, the worst part: they either don't know (doubt it) what they're looking for, or they are oblivious about the existence of the Devops role. There was not a single question about code, everything was highly conceptual or strictly AWS/Azure related, (the latter being briefly mentioned on the job description). In addition, it felt like I was annoying the interviewer, who seemed distracted by something else on the screen. There was no open discussion, no appeal to guide the questions into what was expected as an answer. Also, some of the answers I gave where undoubtably correct, confirmed by colleagues and just doing a quick Google search, but again, it felt a questionnaire, not an interview. 4th Step: I was sent another Codility excercise, similar to the first one, which I sadly failed.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe the architecture for (two different) projects. Explain the services. How would the pipeline work.
Great interview, many technical questions. No coding interview. Past experiences also evaluated. Description of the current project. Description of difficulties and ways to resolve those. Test related to C#, ASp NET CORE, Architecture layers.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Describe the observer pattern and the way it is used
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SOUTHWORKS (London, England)
Interview
3 stages:
1. Call with HR.
2. Codility challenge with 3 questions.
3. Interview with one of their Team Leads which was more of a general 'culture fit' one rather than very technical.
Afterwards they called me to say they want to extend me an offer and asked for a figure, which I gave them.
Didn't get anything for several days, then after I politely inquired, they wrote to me several times saying that they are working on it and I should recieve it by day x for sure.
It's now been over 2 weeks since the initial call and I haven't yet received anything from them.
I have to say that this is the most unprofessional behavior and experience I have ever had with any company in my entire career, if this is how they treat their candidates one wonders on the ways that they do business.
