i applied on one of the job sites although i cant remember which one. most likely indeed or linkedin. '
i was contacted by a very odd but professional recruiter who worked for a recruiting firm. supposedly they were exclusive to spi pharma as they placed several other candidates there. but when i asked if they were "retained" the answer was no, and that should have been my first red flag. (details later).
to cut this review short, there were several interviews that all went "well" (i put well in quotes because of some of the feedback). the interviews were typical behaviour based etc. not too much technical, and really up to this point, sans the extremely low salary for the position, i was pleased with the process.
although the recruiter was fairly responsive i found the recruiter albeit annoying. very annoying. the recruiter literally was nothing but an unneeded middle man (i will explain later) that literally had no insight and just forwarded me the "status" obviously from the HR rep. the status was few, very far and in between. which was another red flag. i literally had no use for the "recruiting firm" as it was apparent they were a useless middle man with absolutely no "value add" in the process and just needlessly inserted themselves in the process to take at least a 20% cut off my first year salary (again thats why the salary was too low).
the major kicker was me being needlessly strung along. according to the recruiting firm i was the ONLY candidate for the position etc but my business mind knew better. what spi was doing was seeking candidates on their own so they wouldnt have to deal with the excessive fees etc from the parasite "recruiting firm." now i cant be mad at SPI for that, but what i can be mad about is how they handled it.
after the useless recruiting firm confirmed my suspicions i was done. i just told the recruiter i was taking other offers from other big pharma companies and to remove me from the process, as it was a colossal waste of my time.
the only positives i can say was that, albeit it annoying, at least i was provided some honest feedback during the interview process.
in any case, its no small wonder this company was having issues filling the position. in the interview they did seem "on the level" but their actions proved otherwise.
underpaid and playing unnecessary games is what i got from the company culture there.
id say, honestly to stay away from this company unless you like playing games.
