The phone interview with the corporate recruiter went very well. He was very friendly. The in-person interview with the Executive Director was a different story. The process is overly formalized. They have you take a personality test beforehand and then ask you additional behavior-based questions during the in-person interview. This made the interview very stilted. The interesting part to me as an HR professional is that if highly formalized behavioral interviewing is part of their process, it doesn't appear to work given the amount of turnover they informed me that had their Edgemere community. There was no real review of knowledge, skills or abilities of the applicant and the interviewer couldn't really answer my key questions. The most disappointing part of the entire process was that after the in-person interview, I never heard from them again; not even a decline letter or email. I found this to be extremely rude and unprofessional, especially from a company that fashions itself on its superior customer service. Don't forget that your employees (including potential employees) are also your customers and treat them with the same respect you treat your paying customers. Their hiring process and failure to follow-up were good indicators to me that this is not somewhere I wanted to work.
