I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Sally Beauty (Durham, NC) in Jul 2011
Interview
I filled out an application and attached my resume. The store manager sat down with me at that time and asked me about my experience. I'd been a hair stylist for 14 years and had just moved to the state so I had no following and needed a job for income while we were renting a home - not wanting to buy until we knew the area well. I didn't want to bounce from shop to shop so thought a retail position would be wise for a year. She told me the pay - it wasn't good but it was a job so when I agreed to it she gave me their multiple choice psychological test to take - it determines honesty After I finished it was submitted via computer to their main office. She called me about two hours later and gave me my schedule. About three weeks into the job the district manager came through. He introduced himself. I was stocking shelves and tending to customers. It was a busy location. After spending about a half hour with the manager he came back up front with her behind him and she was smiling at me - he asked me to go for coffee a couple doors down. The manager was nodding for me to go and so I did. He asked me how I liked my job, the company, the products and said he'd seen my resume and the references that the manager had checked were very favorable. He said that I was overqualified for hourly and that the manager liked me a lot but knew I was worth more and was concerned I might leave for better pay and that I was on time & great with customers, my cash drawer was always even and that I had a good work ethic. He asked me a couple open ended interview questions and then offered me management - a smaller store across town - they were short a manager who had left to have a baby and decided against returning to work.

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Sally Beauty in Sept 2018
Interview
Applied online and got a voicemail 1 week later asking for an interview. My phone is all jacked up and will not make calls and is hard to hear the other person on the other end of the line, so I walked into the store myself 2 days after the voicemail. The manager was shocked and loved my initiative. She was looking for a part time employee mostly for closing shifts and 4 people never came in for their interviews. She took me to the back, asked me the basic questions like my work experience, why I want to work at Sallys, etc. She called her area manager and had me do a phone interview right then and there. Got off the phone and the manager said she would call me to discuss the process further. She was super friendly and absolutely loved the company. It made me more eager to work there. She called me 3 hours later and confirmed I got the job.
