      Interview

An interview review typically includes feedback on the interview process, covering aspects such as the difficulty of questions, interviewer behavior, response expectations, and overall experience. It may highlight the professionalism of the interviewers, the clarity of job role explanations, and the relevance of the questions asked. Candidates often share insights on the company’s culture, communication speed, and whether they felt valued or rushed. Reviews can be positive, negative, or neutral, helping future applicants prepare by understanding common patterns and expectations within the hiring process.

      Software Engineer Interview

      5 Dec 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New Albany, IN
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Samtec (New Albany, IN) in Nov 2022

      Interview

First had a zoom call with an enterprise architect. Was very friendly and non-technical. Second interview was with the original EA, another EA, and a developer. Also very non-specific/non-technical questions were asked. Thought everything was ok, but was ghosted after the second interview. There was suppose to be a third interview, but I guess I failed somehow. I asked for feedback a couple times and received no response. Basically one of the worst interviews I have had. No idea what criteria they were looking for or how I could have done better. No feedback telling wether or not I passed the second interview. Definitely would not recommend.

      Question 1

Nothing specific. Just high level questions about my current role.

      Software Developer Interview

      18 Feb 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Samtec

      Interview

Started with a tech screening that mostly involved the enterprise architect talking about himself and how great the company is. It was an unstructured conversation with little flow. The next step involved the same architect, and another architect. Same unstructured, flowless process. Super awkward. One architect hardly talked and just stared. They mostly just grill you on your resume and try to trip you up nitpicking things they have 0 context on. It was clear they hadn't read the resume, and were just skimming it looking for things to cherry pick and criticize. Overall, they are very condescending/smug about their positions. They seemed to want to create a tense interview environment to make you uncomfortable so they could sort of lord over you during it. This is of course done right after they talk about how great the company is and how everyone is really friendly. The vibe from everyone in the interview process seems to indicate otherwise. They don't seem great to work with if this is how they go about interviewing people. Easily top 3 worst interviews I have ever experienced.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A bunch of typical "things to ask in an interview about development" nonsense including questions unrelated to the actual job and tech stack that will be worked on.
