      Sales Assistant Interview

      16 Aug 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Philadelphia, PA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Samuels Seafood (Philadelphia, PA) in May 2010

      Interview

Sent resume and cover letter. Got a call for an interview the next afternoon. Interviewed with the Head of Sales, who stared at a book on a table for a while without speaking. It was very weird. He said a few things that made me feel as if he thought I was overdressed (I was wearing a suit, it was an interview, I don't know what he expected). He described the company, and in the description told me that they had some people working there that didn't like it and complained a lot, but if it was that bad, why didn't they quit? He asked a few questions, took me on a tour, and dropped me off with HR. The HR guy asked a few generic questions and walked me out.

      Sales Assistant Interview

      30 Sept 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Phila, PA
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Samuels Seafood (Phila, PA) in Aug 2021

      Interview

Heed the warnings from other posts saying that HR will lie to you. Because they absolutely will. I interviewed multiple times with Samuel's. I stated to several people what I was looking for in a salary range. They offered me $17 an hour, more than $8 per hour lower than what I wanted, and it was not salaried. Oh, but I was free to work as much overtime as I wanted! I was interviewing for an office gig but was told the first three hours of each workday would be spent loading trucks. Uhm….if I’m doing two jobs I def should be paid to do two jobs. Speaking of hours, they wanted me to work 7am-4:30pm even though I was told in the interview my day would likely be over by 3pm. 7-4:30 is a crazy long workday, not including commute, and doesn't seem sustainable unless you literally live this for this job. There’s no Work From Home or Hybrid flexibility offered, or commute stipend that I was offered. The PTO offered is a joke, and the office space is crammed and chaotic. A lot of the people I spoke with had been there 2 years or less, with a whole bunch of employees only being there 6 months, 2 months, 3 weeks. When I asked what they liked about working for Samuel's the big benefit was "we can wear whatever we want!" The company as a whole appears extremely disorganized with a big lack of communication between HR and other office managers. HR doesn't know much of what is going on and even lost my pre-employment papers (which, you know, included my SSN so....) and seemed to forget who I was the second I was out of eyesight. Nothing in their offer letter reflected what I was told and the entire process felt like a waste of time. I politely rejected their offer via email and explained why, but I never heard from them again.
