      Server/Hostess Interview

      11 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Port Coquitlam, BC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at San Remo Pizza (Port Coquitlam, BC) in Apr 2016

      Interview

Applied online, got a call within a couple days from the owner who wanted to schedule an interview. Not very flexible with interview times at all, which isn't good if you've applied at multiple places and have multiple interviews already scheduled. He didn't have a copy of my resume so its a good thing I brought one. Right when I got there the owner told me to go sit down at a table, left me sitting there for about 10 minutes though I did arrive a bit early for my interview. I couldn't help but, notice him yelling (very loudly and rudely) at a cook. I wasn't there prior to know if the cook had done anything wrong, but it was clear however, that the cook was not saying anything back and was just getting yelled at. Not something you should do if you are short-staffed and looking for new employees, especially right in front of a possible new employee. I am in high school and have work experience dating back to when I was 11. I'm 18 now and started working in a restaurant when I was 15. I quit my previous job in November and was interviewed at the beginning of April. The owner seemed to have a real problem with the fact that I hadn't worked in 6 months. I'm still in high school and was working long before any of my friends were. When he asked why I quit my last job, I mentioned that one of the reasons was the fact that I was harassed by another co-worker. He asked what type of harassment and when I told him it was a bit of inaaprioate touching and stalking, he basically shouting "SEXUAL HARASSMENT" for the whole restaurant to here. Not a very professional or discreet thing to do. He then proceeded to question me about it for the next 5-10 minutes. He clearly did not read my resume at all, even when it was sitting right in front of him he only used it to write a bunch of notes about my harassment experience. He was not knowledgable about Serving it Right and the laws surrounding liquor service, I also found him to be quite rude. At the end of the interview he said "I'll take a look at the schedule, and see what we can do for you." Thanks, but no thanks. After this experience its certainly not a place I'd like to work. Keep in mind that his business was the one with ads posted, looking to hire. He also claimed I had no work experience. I have 7 years work experience and I'm only 18, I think thats pretty impressive personally.
