Very well organized scheduling and advance notice. The interview process was grueling, difficult, and ultimately a waste of time. Round 1 was a mini panel with 30 minutes for 10 in-depth questions. It went well enough that I went on to round 2. A full reference check was done. One of my references contacted me expressing their concern that the process might not be completely transparent and was a bit put off by the hiring manger who was not respectful of my reference’s time. The hiring manager refereed to another candidate while speaking with my reference so that was not good. Then the hiring manager kept pushing back on my reference for additional weaknesses. I felt that this was not a good sign. My reference said that they seemed to be looking for a reason not to hire me. Second round. Made it in spite of that. This was with President and upper leadership. They were polite and professional, but the process was almost exactly the same with almost the same questions. When I asked the hiring manager questions at the end on updates with campus project the person responded rudely and condescending. There was a slight negative jab at my current institution that left a bad taste in my mouth. It left me bewildered. I did not hear back after being a FINALIST with references completed. Truthfully I didn’t really want to engage with that hiring manager and report to that person given how things had changed since meeting one but still wanted to have a good closure. I contacted HR and was told that the hiring manager should have contacted me and they would follow up. Later that day I got a standard email from HR saying no go basically. I noticed the position has been flown several times. No wonder.
