      Electrical Engineering Design Drafter Interview

      11 Mar 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chattanooga, TN
      No offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Sargent & Lundy (Chattanooga, TN) in Mar 2020

      Interview

I did the review on 2/25/2020. I’m doing a follow up into the 2nd step of the interview process. 03/06/2020 I was contacted by the recruiter an reimbursed travel to the interview and include parking, meals, mileage, hotel stay. My interview last from 12:30-3:30PM. Bring a drink in, I didn’t and I got thirsty talking haha. The GPS took me directly there, wasn’t quite sure at first were to park, but go in the parking deck, when you come down the elevator, and go in the side door of that building, it’s on the 5th floor. There wasn’t a receptionist so ask the recruiter who you should call. Because it’s a babe entry only. I didn’t know but I got lucky that it was lunch time and a gentleman came out as I sat down. Once inside, Beverly was a peach, she didn’t hesitate to strike up a conversation. From there I had a timed drawing test. Focus on adjusting text heights, mirror command, offset distances, linear dimensions, leaders with text, and if you can get it, ask for the library cell name of the HVAC. Drawing test was immensely easy. Even if I only got 1/3 of it done, if this can help you succeed, I’m all for it! From there I started my panel interview with 6 different team members. A few had similar questions but even the conversation flowed so it wasn’t nerve wreckening at all. I did my research back in January so I didn’t have that many questions and my prior phone interview had answered what few I couldn’t find answers for. Overall vibe was professional but laidback. Everyone mentioned also that no matter what that we work in a cross functional setting and always willing to help. 2 that were there who’ve been there 11-13 years with the company said not once were they told no from asking from help or learning. For entry level candidates THIS IS HUGE! Many mentioned how as long as you are good to the company then the company will be good to you. A few also mentioned how once they got in that role they never looked back. So how exciting is that!? All mentioned how the company is very flexible when it comes to work and life balance, a few as follows: young child in pre-K pickup, spouse emergency, weddings, youth T-ball games/practices, child emergencies. The company has discount benefits for, I think, it was Gold’s Gym? There was also some website to get TVs but with Black Friday no one really bothers with it. You don’t have to clock in or out for lunch. My last job wasn’t like that, so I was so excited about that one LOL The company really doesn’t do picnics or team mate recognition. After sending a screenshot of my GPS map route and receipt from the parking deck to the recruiter, he said that during the screening process will take 1-2 weeks before he will reach out to me again. Offer could be made, but not at this time.
