      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      5 Jan 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Sentiance in Nov 2018

      Interview

      1) First round was over skype. An HR person discussed about work and other things. In the end she asked 20 different questions provided by some technical team and asked to write down answers in chat window. 2) For 2nd round they gave me an assignment and asked me to code a module along with test cases and design in 3 to 4 days time. On completing the assignment and giving the code I got the response that they do not want to proceed further. Also, the code was supposed to be production level code. It seemed there was never an opening and they wanted to get some of there modules done in the name of interview. My suggestion to other candidates run away from such companies who ask to do some assignment during multiple days. It's a trap. If they insist they should be paying money for your coding time. Big lesson learned for me.

Thanks for your feedback on your experience in our interview process. I'm unhappy to hear you had a negative experience. I know it is disappointing to hear a process can not go further. At Sentiance we do our best to anticipate our hiring needs and to be as transparent as we can with our candidates when roles are filled or closed. Like many tech companies we ask for a technical test as a key means to assess candidates, and it is our expectation that the quality of the test be as high as possible. But it is purely a technical assignment and not used in production. It is designed to give candidates a real time experience of the problems we solve and to see how closely our approaches are aligned with those who would join us. Your feedback has reminded us how important it is to be clear on the reasons why a process cannot continue, so that as much as possible there is no misunderstanding about our intentions. Wishing you the best in your future endeavors, K. Fierens-Lee VP People
